This is the kind of film that comes along once in a blue moon. It defies the audience to understand just what the hell is going on, tests the limits of their intestinal fortitude, and still somehow manages to slip something charming, almost undetected, into the mix that allows mainstream outlets to pick up what it's dropping.
While it is too new to have enough reviews to designate an overall consensus on critic-aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, it does have a number of positive reviews from outlets like The Guardian and The Daily Beast to give it a startling 92% fresh rating.
It is time to see if San Diego is prepared for the unique brand of bizarre that is presented by The Greasy Strangler. Is it Horror? Maybe there are some horrific things, but if you want to talk some imaginings that are horrible, The Greasy Strangler has you covered. It delights in its filthy repugnance. Tickets to the festival, including single day passes, are available online.
The Horrible Imaginings Film Festival showcases art and film that explore the darker or more macabre sides of the human condition. We promote and spotlight exemplary new artistic voices in what is commonly known as the horror genre. It is our mission to encourage an elevation of the genre through film discussion, question and answer sessions, panels, and other presentations, as well as to educate and hopefully inspire future generations into the art of filmmaking.
