Los Angeles based director/screenwriter Stephen David Brooks was recently awarded an official selection for his film BINKY which was selected out of 700+ global entrants, to screen at the prestigious Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival, an indie event held annually in Venice Beach, California; which forms part of the wider Lift-Off International Film Festivals, who have live indie screenings in four transatlantic cities, each held quarterly throughout the year.
The festivals motto is: Look beyond the gloss. Put talent before technology.
Something that holds true to BINKY.
At the event all of the films will be scored by the attending audience, where the winners are then screened at all three proceeding transatlantic events, with the ultimate aim to give filmmakers like Stephen David Brooks the best exposure possible as they embark on their continued artistic journeys.

The reasons for making a film are myriad, complex, and ultimately, mysterious. BINKY was borne out of a conversation with an ill friend. Our discussion of what, if anything, comes next was the subject of much conjecture and debate. In reality, we couldn’t answer the basic questions of existence. We could only speculate. It is out of this conversation that BINKY was created. It is merely an attempt to explain what comes next. Or, perhaps, it is more about how we choose to live out this life, how we choose to treat the people who touch our lives that is the answer.
