Philadelphia’s own Tiffany E. Green nominated for Best Actress Award at ABFF

-- Philadelphia resident Tiffany E. Green is back on the scene and turning heads in Skye Dennis’ production Myra’s Angel, a harrowing story of forgiveness and redemption. The nomination is just one of six for the film, including Best Director and Best Film. It is also the first very film produced in Philadelphia to be entered into the American Black Film Festival.

In Myra’s Angel, Green portrays Keisha, a young mother with strong family values, who struggles with keeping her fiancé on the straight and narrow path. The film introduces twists and turns resulting in a lasting impact on the entire family.

“The role was really challenging,” said Green. “I mean that in a good way; it allowed me to stretch the boundaries as an actor. Skye’s [Dennis] writing is always thought-provoking, and, as an actor, that’s what you’re looking for in a dramatic piece.”

The nomination is the second Best Actress nomination for Green; she was also nominated for the award in 2012 for the film The Journey of Herman Stone, also written by Skye Dennis. Green sees the second award as a validation of her abilities as an actor.

“The first nomination, for me, was confirmation that others actually enjoy my work; this one validates that the first nomination wasn’t just a fluke,” she says, jokingly.

The nomination follows Green’s exciting year as Chris Tucker’s girlfriend in the award-winning, critically-acclaimed Silver Linings Playbook, which also starred Robert DeNiro, Bradley Cooper, and Jennifer Lawrence, who also won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role.

Myra’s Angel will screen on Saturday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the Silas Room of the SVA Theatre located at 333 W. 23rd Street in NY. The award ceremony will is scheduled for Sunday, June 22nd at 5:00 p.m. For more information, log onto www.abff.com.
