Kids only: ‘The Last Airbender’

M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Last Airbender’ tells the story of the last avatar, a boy who can bend the elements to fight the Fire Nation. First time actor, Noah Ringer, stars as Aang, the airbender himself, and does an incredible job for some kid who sent the casting director a dvd of himself practicing Tae Bo. The special effects are entertaining and the plot, although based on the original cartoon, is mildly amusing. However, the dialogue reads like a Nickelodeon kid’s show. Parents, buy your kids the tickets and let them sit through this one alone while you run some errands because right now there is nothing I’d recommend at your local cinema for adults. Hopefully the summer has more to offer then the crap Hollywood’s been sending middle America’s way…
